The invention relates to a sliding flap device for electronic equipment, such as video cassette recorders, television sets and audio playback equipment, in which a door or sliding flap of the item of equipment concerned can be (automatically) opened simply by pressing a locking/unlocking button. The device comprises a flap which serves for closing a front opening in the front panel of an electronic item of equipment and on the inside of which a toothed rack is formed, a pinion which meshes with the latter and is provided with two transmission gearwheels formed on it, two driving gearwheels which are in engagement with the transmission gearwheels and around the spindle of which a spiral spring is wound, a closure piece for arresting a catch of the flap, a locking/unlocking (transmission) lever which is mounted on a horizontal spindle and the lower part of which can be brought into contact with a rear section of a hook of the closure piece, and a locking/unlocking button for unlocking the flap under a pressure exerted on the button.
