To test bodies (1) for inhomogeneities (2a), in particular to test circumferential pipe wells (2), a number of test heads (4-14) which cover the entire test area and have electrical leads are arranged at specified intervals on a flexible strip (3). The strip is provided with fixing means for mounting on the body to be tested. The test heads are connected via a multiplexer (19) to an ultrasonic transmitter and via a multiplexer (22) to an ultrasonic receiver, which is connected to an evaluating device.
