A portable packaging bag made of plastic film which has in each case an approximately rectangular front and rear surface part (9, 10) which are connected laterally by semi-side parts (11, 12; 11', 12') and, in the top region of the bag (1), by a handle part (2) designed as a U-loop, it being possible for the abovementioned parts to be derived from an integral film section. In the top region of the bag (1) below the handle part (2), a lid film section is fixed via seams (5, 6) to the two upper edges (8, 8') of the surface parts (9, 10) with the film sections in each case forming associated semi-side parts (11, 11'; 12, 12'). The lid film section forms a lid part (4) which closes the spreadable opening between the surface parts and the semi-side parts. The application furthermore relates to a method for producing portable packaging bags of this type. <IMAGE>
