PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive translucent magnetic material useful as a material for a storage element, optical isolator, etc. having improved transmittance for light having a wide wavelength range including visible rays, and large coercive force, by constituting the material of a specified substance. CONSTITUTION:After mixing and pulverizing a mixture consisting of B2O3, Bi2O3, iron oxide, and at least one rare earth metal oxide selected from Nd2O3, Tb2O3, Dy2O3, Sm2O3 and Eu2O3, the mixture is heated and sintered to obtain a sintered product. The sintered product is charged to a Pt nozzle 2 and melted with a high frequency heating coil 3 to produce melt 1, which is sprayed onto a cooling surface of a rotary cooling body 4 through a slit at the tip end of a nozzle 2 to cool and to solidify the melt. Thus, a translucent magnetic mate rial consisting of a material expressed by the formula (M is Nd, Dy, Tb, Sm, Eu; 0.1<=x<=0.4; 0.014<=y<=0.4; 0.014<=z<=0.4; 0.014<=k<=0.4; 1.3<=L<=1.5; x+ y+z+k=1), is obtd. |
