PURPOSE:To accurately adjust the remaining amount of a developer by adjusting the amount of a developer stored in a developing means according to an output signal which makes it possible to discriminate whether or not the remaining amount of the developer in the developing means is in a range wherein a fresh developer needs to be supplied. CONSTITUTION:A signal processing means receives electric signals outputted by remaining developer amount detecting means (antenna) 17a and 17b and converts them into digital signals with resolution high enough to discriminate whether or not the remaining amount of the developer in the developing means 10 is within the preset area where a fresh developer needs to be supplied. The amount of the developer to be stored in the developing means 10 is adjusted according to the output signals of the signal processing means. Consequently, the remaining amount of the developer in a developing device is accurately adjusted.
