PURPOSE:To form the dense mixed gas in a subchamber by arranging the position of a gas introducing inlet to the subchamber in eccentricity and setting the injection angle within a range of -10 deg.-45 deg. towards a main combustion chamber in the vertical direction and 45 deg.-90 deg. from a spark plug in a horizontal surface plane. CONSTITUTION:A gas conduit 40 and an injection hole 42 opened in the transverse direction with respect to the axis center 0 of a subchamber 12 are formed at the lower edge part of a check valve 24. The injection angle theta in the vertical direction of the injection hole 42 is selected to an optimum angle within a range of -10 deg.-45 deg. for a horizontal plane S. Further, the injection angle of the injection hole 42 in the horizontal plane S is selected to an optimum angle within a range of 45 deg.-90 deg. with respect to the center line connecting the center of a spark plug 20 and the center of the gas conduit 40. Therefore, gas fuel is not jetted nearly immediately downward, and jetted to the upper edge part and stored, and jetted in the swirl direction along the inner wall. Therefore, the dense mixed gas is compressed at the upper edge part, i.e., in the vicinity of the spark plug 20 during the storing swirl, and combusted speedily by the spark of the spark plug 20.
