PURPOSE:To improve the traveling performance on start acceleration and improve the cooling faculty in the intermediate or high speed region by setting the region on the stop of a compressor after the high load state of an engine is detected according to the map of the engine load and the car speed. CONSTITUTION:The detection signals supplied from a sensor 3 for detecting the pressure in a suction pipe 1 and a car speed sensor 4 are input into a compressor control device 5. A compressor 7 is operated through a relay 6 and an electromagnetic clutch 8 by the control signals supplied from the controller 5. In this case, if the intake pipe pressure is equal in the relation between the car speed and the intake pipe pressure (engine load), the load is set to the stop region of the compressor 7 as the car speed is lower. Therefore, on start acceleration, the traveling performance is improved by spreading the engine load region for stopping the compressor 7, and the cooling faculty is improved by contracting the engine load region in the intermediate or high speed region.
