PURPOSE:To reduce the temperature rise of the brake disc plate of a vehicle by forced cooling of the plate with a cooling medium in a sealing tank. CONSTITUTION:A brake device composed of an eddy current brake unit 2 and a brake disc plate 3 is entirely covered with a sealing tank 1. The plate 3 is forcibly cooled with a cooling medium 4 filled in the tank 1. The plate 3 is heated to approx. 700oC by an eddy current at the time of braking, and cooled by the medium 4. Further, a groove is formed on the periphery of the plate 3 to raise the cooling efficiency.
