Apparatus for fixing fasteners 2 and 3 in a sheet metal component 4 comprises a plurality of headed dies 36 mounted in a templet 37 on an anvil 27 of a punch and die mounting assembly 5. The dies 36 correspond to positions where the fasteners 2 and 3 are to be fixed in the component 4. Openings 46 in the dies accommodate the fasteners 2 and 3. Punch members corresponding with clusters of fasteners 2 and 3 are adjustably mounted to a support plate 55 secured to a punch plate member 31 of the assembly 5. The component 4 is placed with holes 17 aligned with dies 36 and the appropriate fasteners are inserted in holes 17. The punch membsrs are brought into engagement with heads 7 of fasteners 2 and 3 and component 4 to secure the fasteners 2 and 3 in the component.
