PURPOSE:To quickly cope with the characteristic change of a controlled system by storing an optimum PID control coefficient in response to a single effect signal and reading out said control coefficient in accordance with the effect signal level. CONSTITUTION:An optimum PID control coefficient is stored in response to the level of an effect signal S10 which affects the characteristics of a controlled system 1 as well as the weighting between the past and present values. At the same time, the stored PID control coefficient is read out in accordance with the level of the signal S10 and set as an optimum PID control coefficient of a PID control means 3. Thus the optimum PID control coefficient stored in response to the level of the signal S10 can be quickly read out. Then it is possible to quickly cope with the characteristic change of the controlled system 1 and to improve the controllability of an adaptive controller.
