PURPOSE:To obtain a hair cosmetic providing hair and hair after drying with excellent toughness, combing properties and smoothness, comprising a specific amount of a specific quaternary ammonium salt containing a long-chain alkyl group and a specific amount of a specific ester of a higher alcohol and a fatty acid. CONSTITUTION:A hair cosmetic having the above-mentioned effects, comprising (A) 0.1-10wt% one or more quaternary ammonium salts shown by formula I [R1-R4 are 1-2 8-24C straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or group shown by the formula R5-(OCH2CH2)a (R5 is 8-24C alkyl or hydroxyalkyl; a is 1-10 integer and the other is 1-3C alkyl, benzyl or group shown by formula II (R6 is H or CH3; b is 1-5 integer); X is halogen or 1-2C alkyl sulfate] and (B) 1-10wt% ester of >=20C monohydric or dihydric alcohol and a fatty acid, solid at 30 deg.C.
