PURPOSE:To erase the vertical record component of a magnetized domain on a tape by feeding a magnetized tape into a magnetic gap of a correction head and applying a magnetic field which is rectangle to the tape record signal direction. CONSTITUTION:A tape 2 magnetized by a magnetic head contains a magnetic domains 7'A-N and 7'A-S which are sucked and revolved when the tape 2 is driven and repulsively rotated magnetic domains 7'B-N and 7'B-S. The correction heads 8 and 8' are set side by side to feed the tape 2 into a magnetic gap 9 where an energizing coil 10 is wound. Then only the vertical record components of magnetic domains 7'A-N and 7'A-S are erased by the heads 8 and 8'. The driving directions are set adverse to each other between magnetic domains 7'B-N and 7'B-S for erasion of their vertical record components respectively. Thus only the magnetic domains 7'' which are parallel to the tape 2 are obtained. Thus it is possible to eliminate the magnetic distortions produced in the time axial direction for deletion of blur and to ensure the sharp contours and clear voices.
