1349752 Vulcanizable compositions DUNLOP HOLDINGS Ltd 19 April 1971 [10 March 1970] 11305/70 Heading C3E A vulcanizable composition comprises a natural or synthetic rubber, an adduct of a polyisocyanate (I) with an aromatic compound (II) containing a nitroso and hydroxyl substituent and diphenylmethane-4,4<SP>1</SP>-diisocyanate (III). The composition may also contain carbon black having a particle size < 50 mÁ. Examples of I are dicyclohexylmethane-4,4<SP>1</SP>- diisocyanate, toluene-2,4-diisocyanate and III. II may be p-nitrosophenol, 2-methyl- or 3- methyl-4-nitrosophenol. The adduct may be used at 2-10 parts by wt. per 100 parts by wt. of rubber and III may be used at 0À1-8 parts per 100 parts of rubber. The composition may also contain an activator, e.g. zinc or cadmium dimethyl- or diethyl-dithiocarbamates at 0À1-5 parts by wt. per 100 parts of rubber. Examples relate to the vulcanization of natural rubber compounded with various grades of carbon black. |
