DISK CARTRIDGE AND SEMICONDUCTOR CARTRIDGE MEMORY

A memory which uses a disk cartridge (3) accommodating a disk memory medium (2) such as a flexible magnetic disk sheet that will be accessed by mechanical operation like rotation and transfer. The memory is provided with a switching circuit (18) for switching semiconductor memory medium control circuits (14) and (16) so that there can be selectively used, in addition to the disk cartridge (3), semiconductor cartridges (15A) and (15B) that accommodate a semiconductor memory medium which can be statically accessed without involving mechanical motion. Further provided is a discrimination circuit (17) which, when the semiconductor cartridges (15A), (15B) and the disk cartridge (3) are loaded onto predetermined positions, descriminates whether the loaded memory medium is the semiconductor cartridge (15A), (15B) or the disk cartridge (3). The switching circuit (18) is automatically switched on the output of the discrimination circuit. Otherwise provided is a selection means (29) which actuates the switching circuit (18) according to the memory medium that is to be used.
