In accordance with a deciding signal at the time of arrival of a prescribed integral value from an integral end deciding circuit 46, a shift pulse phiT from the circuit 43 is outputted through the gate 53, and a transfer inhibition of an integral charge inhibited in the course of charge transfer and arithmetic operation processings is released. Accordingly, in the course of this inhibition, the next integral operation is executed without hindering the arithmetic operation until the previous arithmetic operation is unded, the next integral information is obtained quickly and with high accuracy, and without depending on the luminance of an object to be photographed, a detection speed extending from a start of a distance measurement to an arrival to focusing is increased.
