The present invention concerns an automatic machine for use in the building industry, principally in masonry work. The aim of this machine is to form horizontal mortar joints (on bricks or concrete blocks). It is characterised by its quickness, its ease of use and its saving in mortar. It is not necessary to be especially skilled to use it. Indeed, all that is required is to fill the hopper and press a button. From then on, the machine moves autonomously and leaves behind it a perfect joint onto which other construction elements can be laid.
