Appts. for stranding optical fibre cores in slackened state into a core storage tube includes a core feed passage supplied with a gas flow in the core travel direction through passages, with a core tensile force reducer at the inlet side of the appts.. There is pref. an inlet block (18) with a pressure chamber (19), an axial passage for the core and a nozzle (21) with passageway communicating between the chamber and the passage. The passage pref. has a first section of reduced diameter and second section of larger diameter, and an outlet pipe (26) connected to the nozzle has a number of exhaust opening (27). The force reducer is pref. a winding drum holding a number of turns of the core and rotated as a function of a main shaft turning a former at the core storage location.
