PURPOSE:To obtain vivid pictures by applying a non-selecting voltage to the other liquid crystal panel while one liquid crystal panel is driven in the share driving phase period. CONSTITUTION:In a period Tt-up when an upper liquid crystal panel is driven to successively scan row-side electrodes and the share driving phase period is scanned, a non-selecting voltage Voff is applied to a lower liquid crystal panel. In a period Tt-down when the lower liquid crystal panel is driven to successively scan row-side electrodes and the share driving phase period is scanned, the non-selecting voltage Voff is applied to the upper liquid crystal panel. While one liquid crystal panel is driven in the period of scanning of the share driving phase period Tt of upper and lower liquid crystal panels, the non-selecting voltage Voff is applied to the other liquid crystal panel. Thus, vivid pictures are obtained because frequency components of the upper liquid crystal panel and the lower liquid crystal panel are approximated to each other.
