PURPOSE:To prevent words to be registered in a word dictionary from being overlapped and to read out a word only be one collation even if the attribute of the word is overlapped by using a table for indicating a word to be red out for the word dictionary. CONSTITUTION:A word reader has the table 6 for specifying a word to be read out which stores a flag group indicating whether the work is to be read out or not correspondingly to respective words in a word dictionary and a control means 7 for changing the word to be read out. The words to be read out in the word dictionary 4 are selectively collated by using the table 6 capable of previously setting plural information indicating whether a word is to be read out or not. Thus, the word dictionary is used as a single dictionary by forming the table 6 capable of selectively indicating the word to be read out, and even in case of reading out a word having plural attributes, the time required for collation can be shortened.
