PURPOSE:To satisfactorily reproduce only a signal of one system, even when a part of one system recording and a part of multi-system recording are mixed and recorded, by recording a specific number of tracks at the time of multi- system recording. CONSTITUTION:The titled recorder is provided with a changeover switch 11 for switching the recording of a multi-system and recording of one system, a switching circuit 19 for executing a switching control of (n) (n is an integer of >=3) pieces of magnetic heads Ra, La, Rb and Lb, a controlling circuit 20, etc., and constituted so as to record m (n-1) +1 (m is an integer of >=1) pieces of tracks at the time of multi-system recording. In such a way, even when a part of multi-system recording and a part of one system recording are contin ued, the first track and the 1st track of the multi-system recording part becomes signals of the same, system and by aligning a one system recording track recorded before and after its signal, with a track in which a signal of this system has been recorded, as to its pattern, only signal of one system can be reproduced satisfactorily.
