PURPOSE:To reduce a drop in the surface temperature of a roller at the time of continuous paper feeding and to hold the same image quality at all times by operating a heating means forcibly for a constant time when a recording material reaches the entrance side of a couple of rollers. CONSTITUTION:When a detection signal for the front end part of the recording material S is inputted from a photosensor 9, the heaters H arranged in the couple of upper and lower rollers 1 and 2 are turned on forcibly at the point of time of the arrival of the recording material S at a nip part N. This forcible operation of the heaters H is continued for the constant time until the part P0 of the lower roller 2 which drops in roller surface temperature by contacting the recording material S reaches a temperature sensor 7. Then when the part P0 reaches the temperature sensor 7 and the temperature drop is detected, the heaters are released from being turned on forcibly and switched to ON-OFF control based upon the detection signal of the temperature sensor 7; and the heaters H are controlled so that the surface temperatures of the rollers 1 and 2 reach control temperature T deg.C.
