PURPOSE:To obtain a thin film magnetic disk with horizontal orientation without film gradient by coating a magnetic paint such as a Ba ferrite with a variable speed of base while the dropping position of the manufacturing device is moved radially in applying spin coating the paint having an easy magnetization axis perpendicularly to a flat face onto the disk base. CONSTITUTION:In forming the coating film 3 by applying spin coating while the magnetic powder paint dropping nozzle 2 is moved radially from the inner to the outer circumference to the driven aluminum base 1, it is required to drive the base 1 at a low speed to apply horizontal orientation to the magnetic powder often subjected to perpendicular orientation such as Ba ferrite. Thus, the thick film having film gradient is caused inevitably. In the manufacturing equipment, the film thickness delta, the dropping position RD and the base drive speed omega have a relation of delta=RD<-0.55> . omega<-1.05>. The drive speed of the base is controlled to make the thickness delta constant, that is, to satisfy the equation of omega=RD<-0.52>. Thus, the gradient and the manufacture of the magnetic disk with high density coating film is attained.
