PURPOSE:To obtain a light-weight foamed plastic article having excellent processability and exhibiting termite-proofing effect, by adding a foaming agent and an agent having termite-exterminating activity to a resin, forming the resin composition in granular form and expanding the granules e.g. by heating. CONSTITUTION:A resin material (e.g. polystyrene, polyethylene, etc.) is added with 0.1-5% agent having termite-exterminating effect (e.g. organophosphorus agent such as chlorpyrifos, a carbamate agent, etc.), a foaming agent and, if necessary, a flame-retardant, etc., the obtained resin composition is formed in granular form and the granules are integrated under foaming with heat to obtain the objective foamed material. As an alternative method, a resin material added with a foaming agent is formed in granular form, a termite- proofing agent is attached to the granule before and/or after (preferably before) preliminary foaming, and the product is subjected to preliminary foaming and then heated to effect the main foaming and integration of the granules. The same termite-proofing effect can be attained with a lower amount of termite- proofing agent by the latter method.
