PURPOSE:To obtain further high accuracy with a small beam diameter in the deflecting direction without lowing the beam luminous quantity by applying line scanning by a beam modulated by one and the same information for plural number of times. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal is outputted after the scanning luminous flux is made incident on a photodetector from a 1st face of a polygon mirror 1 and a prescribed delay time is given from a BD signal. When one scanning is finished, the scanning luminous flux of a 2nd face is given and the BD signal is obtained similarly and after a prescribed delay time, the same picture signal as the 1st face is outputted and the same signal is recorded on the two scanning lines on the photosensitive drum. When the BD signal of the scanning luminous flux of a 3rd face is given, other picture signal is outputted after a prescribed delay time and the same picture signals is outputted on a 4th face. The same picture signal is outputted to two faces each in this way, then the apparent scanning line density is increased.
