A plate having at least two diametrically opposed ring-shaped, metal linings cut into sectors, forms the layers of each capacitor. A second plate has an unbroken metal lining, and serves as a further lining common to each of the capacitors. The two plates are fitted on each side of the ring to form a fluid-tight circular chamber. The dielectric fluid inside the chamber is at all times in contact with the unbroken metal lining, and, dependent upon the inclination of the cell in relation to the gravitation vector, comes into contact with the opposing ring-shaped metal linings. A number of further metal linings are arranged in pairs and diagonally, centrally to each other at specific angle positions, and concentrically outside the ring-shaped metal linings, and form ring-shaped capacitor plates, assuming an angle which is small in relation to that adopted by the internally located linings. Also incorporated is an upright, thin, cylindrical resistance cell comprising a ring (24) of electrically conductive material, a third plate with a number of circular ring-shaped, diagonally opposed metal linings, termed resistance plates, and which assume the same small angle as the capacitor plates.
