NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [Q is N or CH; R<1> is H or (substituted)lower alkyl; R<2> is H or lower alkyl; A is S or NH; n is 2-4] and salt thereof. EXAMPLE:7beta-[2-(2-Aminothiazol-4-yl)-(Z)-2-methoxyiminoacetamido]-3- {[4-(3-ami nopropylthio)-1-pyridinium]methyl}-3-cephem-4-carboxylate.hydrochloride expressed by formula II. USE:An antimicrobial agent against Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudpomonas aeruginosa, Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. PREPARATION:A compound expressed by formula III [R<3> is amino which may be protected; R<4> is OH, acyloxy, (substituted)carbamoyloxy or halogen] is reacted with a compound expressed by formula IV (R<5> is amino-protecting group) or salt thereof and, as necessary, the protecting groups are removed.
