PURPOSE:To obtain a cockroach repellent having excellent repelling effect and durability and safe to human body, by using aniseed oil and/or bay oil as active components. CONSTITUTION:Aniseed oil and/or bay oil which are natural essential oils useful as perfumery are used as an active components of the objective repellent. The natural essential oils are used singly or in combination as it is or after adsorbing, mixing or dispersing in a proper carrier. There is no restriction in the quantity to be applied. For example, in the case of forming a repelling area by coating or aerosol spraying, the active component is made to be present on the surface in an amount of preferably >=0.0001g/cm<2> or in air at a concentration of preferably >=0.5ppm.
