PURPOSE:To improve the safety in the operation of a walking type vehicle by enabling the body thereof to run when an operator holds at least one of a right and left body control handle and each operational clutch lever, and stopping the body when the operater releases both handle and lever. CONSTITUTION:A porous ulethane foam member 19 is elastically deformed by the fact that an operator grips a grip 4a and the distance between both aluminum boxes 18, 20 and static electric capacity thus change. Detectors D1, D2 detect the change and first and second sensors 14, 15 provided for a right and left body control handle 4A then judges whether the handle is in a gripped condition or not. On the other hand, third and fourth sensors 16, 17 of the same construction with the above sensors 14, 15 are provided for running and working clutchlevers. When each detector detects non-gripping condition according to the detection result from each sensor, an operator releases a running clutch A by outputting a high level signal from an inverter 27 so as to exite a solenoid 28.
