PURPOSE:To quickly and efficiently access a data file by reporting the request of picture data display from a host to a memory buffer control part to search a management table having various information. CONSTITUTION:If the memory buffer control part of a work station which receives the request of picture data display searches a data name area 31 of a management table 3 to find that data exists in the data file, an information area 34 indicating whether data is already stored in a memory buffer or not is searched. If it does not exist in the memory buffer 4, it is checked whether the memory buffer 4 has an idle area or not and if it has no idle areas, an information area 36 indicating whether data is used on a screen or not and unused data is selected or a use frequency information area 37 is searched to delete the data of low frequency in use. Next, data is read from the data file and is stored in the memory buffer 4 and is displayed on the screen.
