PURPOSE:To enable recording on a thick or large-sized recording paper, by providing a pressing member for supporting a peripheral part of a recording paper on a stiff flat plate body by pressing the peripheral part against the plate body, and printing on the recording paper in a region in which the pressing member is not disposed. CONSTITUTION:A recording paper 22, which is 8 chart to be printed, is placed on a plate body 41. The plate body 41 is stiff, has a flat surface, and is formed of a ferromagnetic material such as iron. A pressing member 42 in a tetragonal frame form presses a peripheral part of the recording paper 22 against the plate body 41, whereby the paper 22 can be supported on the plate body 41 in a flat state without generating wrinkling or the like. In this condition, a printing head 9 is placed on the paper 22 in a region 22a surrounded by the pressing member 42, and printing can be performed.
