PURPOSE:To make a heat generating resistor uniformly rectangular in cross-sectional shape, by providing the heat generating resistor by utilizing an aperture part defined by a glaze layer. CONSTITUTION:A conductor film is provided on a ceramic substrate 11, and is shaped into a predetermined electrode pattern 12. A photosensitive resist 13 is applied to the electrode pattern 12 at s position where a heat generating resistor is to be provided, and a glass paste 14 is applied by printing in a width slightly greater than that of the resist pattern. The glass paste 14 is dried and baked to provide a glaze layer 14'. At this time, the part of the glass paste is burned away together with the photosensitive resist, and a groove-shaped aperture part 15 is filled with a thick-film resistor paste made of a resistor material such as ruthenium oxide. Then, the resistor paste is dried and baked to provide the heat generating resistor 16, which is coated with an over-glaze to provide an abrasion resistant layer 17. An IC 18 for driving a thermal head is mounted at a predetermined position on the electrode pattern 12, and is bonded by wires 19. |
