PURPOSE:To simplify a process and to improve the quality of product by directly oxidizing a metallic uranium with oxygen, which uranium is condensed, vaporized and deposited on a film by the laser method. CONSTITUTION:The film is arranged in a vacuum chamber and the metallic uranium is vapor-deposited on the film by the laser. Next, the metallic uranium is oxidized by directly transporting the oxygen diluted with an inert gas to the film. Then the heat which is violently exhausted at this time is cooled with a cooling unit or the oxygen supply is controlled. Thus the uranium dioxide with excellent quality is obtained by the simple process eliminating an intermediate product.
