PURPOSE:To raise the durability of a scavenger by using a system in which the combustion chamber is scavenged by charging compressed air into the combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION:A combustion chamber 4 is formed and a pressure accumulating chamber 28 for the gas of the lower chamber of piston 3 through a check valve 29, consisting of a piston for exchanging with the open air and a piston for driving, is provided. The position of the piston for driving is detected and the opening or closing of passage is controlled by a mechanism provided. Compressed air in the chamber 28 is released into the combustion chamber 4 to an adequate extent for scavenging. The durability of the scavenger can thus be raised.
