PURPOSE:To project a video image on a large screen by replacing the film part of a movie film projector with a light transmission type plate-shaped display. CONSTITUTION:A light source 2 is placed at a rear end and one or plural lenses 3 are provided before it to form an optical system for projecting an image 6 on the screen 4 on the whole as well as a slide projector or movie film projector. Then the light transmission type plate-shaped display 1, e.g. a light transmission type liquid crystal display is installed at a proper position of this optical system. consequently, light from the light source 2 passes through the light transmission type plate-shaped display 1 while controlled by the lenses 3 and its image 6 is enlarged and projected on the screen.
