NEW MATERIAL:An azole derivative expressed by formula I [R<1> is H, 1-12C alkyl, formula II, formula III or -CH2R<4>; R<2> and R<3> are H, Br or methyl; R<4> is 2-9C alkenyl or 2-9C alkynyl; m is 0-2; n is 0 or 1; p and q are each 1-8; Az is imidazolyl or 1,2,4-triazole Q is CO, -O- or formula IV; R<5> is H or methyl; X is H, F, Cl or phenyl; Z is H, F, Cl or methyl (provided that when Z is H or Cl, n is 1)] or salt thereof. EXAMPLE:1-{1-[2-(2,4-Dichlorobenzyloxy)-5-fluorophenyl]vinyl}-1H-imida zole. USE:Useful as a plant disease-preventing and exterminating agent and exhibiting a remarkable antimicrobial activity. PREPARATION:For example, a compound expressed by formula V (M is H or alkali metal) is reacted with a compound expressed by the formula R<1>A (A is reactive group) to provide the compound expressed by formula I wherein n is 0.
