PURPOSE:To obtain an almost colorless shape retaining fuel, hardly generating soot and suitable for use in seats of restaurants, etc., by homogeneously blending a petroleum fraction with a gelling agent, methanol, peroxide solution and surfactant. CONSTITUTION:A shape retaining fuel obtained by homogeneously blending (A) preferably about 60-90wt% petroleum fraction, e.g. gasoline, kerosene, light oil, etc., with (B) a gelling agent, e.g. dextrin, lauric acid ester, N- myristoylglutamic acid, etc., in an amount of preferably about 0.5-10pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. component (A), (C) about 1-10wt% methanol as an ignition agent, (D) a peroxide solution consisting of an aqueous solution of preferably hydrogen peroxide in an amount of preferably about 1-10pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. component (A) and (E) a nonionic, ampholytic, anionic or cationic surfactant in an amount of preferably about 1-15pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. component (A).
