PURPOSE:To grind a steel plate into the desired condition by detecting projection energy every projection flow and adding it to the set projection energy respectively to seek modified projection energy and modifying falling amount of the grinding material according to it before starting grinding work. CONSTITUTION:When grinding of steel plate, etc. is executed by allowing grinding materials to fall of their own weights through many discharging ports and beating away with a plate rotating at high speed, grinding material projecting energy changes economically. So, a detection device 2 is shifted to a position corresponding to the specified discharging port and a part of projected materials are passed through inside of the first shielding plate 25 and an opening 24 and collided against a target 20 and the flexion of a measuring plate 17 is detected with strain gauges 18, 19 to seek projection energy. Grinding material falling flow is modified by opening or closing each gate to an amount corresponding to the modified projection energy which is gotten by seeking and adding differential projection energy between this detected projection energy and the set value. In this way, the steel plate can be ground to the desired condition.
