PURPOSE:To form a groove whose shape makes it possible to fix optical fibers as they are close to an optical wave guide, by rotatingly carrying a pyramidal tool laterally, whose tip is pyramidal, for forming a groove whose section is V-shaped on the surface of a workpiece, by the cut processing. CONSTITUTION:A pyramidal tool 11 whose tip is pyramidal, is rotatingly carried laterally, to form a groove 15 whose section is V-shaped on the surface of a base plate 2, by the cut processing with the pyramidal part 12 of the tip of the tool 11. In this way, the base plate 2 formed of a brittleness member can be cut without making chipping, because the rake angle of the pyramidal tool 11 is negative. As this processing is performed by the rotary motion of the pyramidal tool 11, the bottom of the processed groove is shaped according to the angle of the tip of the pyramidal tool 11, and this bottom is not circularly wide-arched. Accordingly, the slanting surfaces of the processed bottom is steep, and the V-shaped groove 15 whose shape makes it possible to fix optical fibers as they are close to an optical wave guide, can be formed. |
