<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the title prepreg which can give a fiber-reinforced composite excellent in electric conductivity and metallic gloss, by containing a base prepreg with a chopper metal-coated carbon fiber. CONSTITUTION:Chopped metal-coated carbon fiber is obtained by coating a carbonaceous or graphitic carbon fiber of a diameter of 4-10mum, prepared from polyacrylonitrile, pitch or rayon is coated with a metal such as Au, Ag, Cu, Ni, Al, Cr, Zn, Sn or Pb. At least one surface of the fiber layer of a base prepreg comprising 25-50wt% resin component (e.g., epoxy resin), a reinforcing fiber component (e.g., glass fiber) which is a unidirectionally oriented woven fabrics or a random mat, and optionally, additives such as a viscosity modifier, a colorant, and a flame retardant is impregnated with 1-20wt.% chopped fiber.</p> |
