PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance useful as a raw material for valiolamine which is an enzyme inhibitor useful as a drug, by contacting cultured product of a specific microbial strain, etc., with anhydro-beta-D-arthro-hepturopyranose and contacting the product with a cultured product of a specific microbial strain, etc. CONSTITUTION:2,7-Anhydro-beta-D-arthro-hepturopyranose is made to contact with cultured product (or its treated product) of a microbial strain belonging to Agrobacterium genus or Gluconobacter genus and capable of oxidizing 2,7- anhydro-beta-D-arthro-hepturopyranose to 2,7-anhydro-beta-D-arabino-2,5- heptodiuropyranose [e.g. Agrobacterium saccharochetogenes (FERM P-9030)]. The product is made to react with a microbial strain belonging to Aureobacterium genus, etc. [e.g. Aureobacterium ketoreductum KN-2479 (FERM P-9031)] to obtain the objective compound. |
