PURPOSE:To reduce a consumption of heat to prevent a printing paper from the defects caused by drying, by using far infrared radiation heaters together with a hot blast heating device for drying the printing paper. CONSTITUTION:A box-type drying chamber 1 is disposed on a printing paper discharging side of a high-speed offset press. In the portion on the side of an inlet 2 of the dry chamber 1, large-size and small-size far infrared radiation heaters 5 are each disposed on the upper and lower sides of a printing paper path 4. In the portion on the side of an outlet 3 of the dry chamber 1, a large number of nozzles 8 are staggered across the printing paper path 4 so that the respective nozzles 8 open toward the printing path 4. While printing paper P passes through the printing paper path 4 in the dry chamber 1, printing ink is heated by a far infrared radiation radiated from the far infrared radiation heaters 5, the solvent of the printing ink is evaporated, and the printing ink and paper are heated by a hot blast jetted out of the nozzles 8 and dried. In this manner, the consumption of heat is reduced, and the printing paper is prevented from the occurrence of the defects caused by drying such as shrinkage and reticulation.
