PURPOSE:To improve the environment resistance and the reliability by forming directly a developed image of a magnetic toner on the surface of a recording member through many needle electrodes in accordance with an image-like electric signal. CONSTITUTION:A sleeve 3 is rotated counterclockwise and a developer 5 is moved counterclockwise as indicated with an error on the surface of the sleeve 3, and while moving a recording member 1 in the direction as indicated with the arrow, a pulse voltage corresponding to image information is applied successively to a needle electrode 2. A magnetic toner 5b in a developer 5 moves and adheres selectively onto the recording member 1 against a magnetic adsorbing force of a permanent magnet 4, and a toner image 5c is formed. Accordingly, a fixed image can be obtained on the recording member 1 through a suitable fixing means. In such a way, an image can be formed directly on the recording member without using a photosensitive body, and the environment resistance and the reliability are extremely high.
