摘要 A method and apparatus for introducing molecules and particles inside living cells. The invention utilizes artificial gravity created by a spinning rotor. This artificial gravity produces several effects: it produces a single cell layer against the outer flat surface; it compresses the cells against the flat surface, internally pressurizing them; then an electric pulse makes an opening on the top of the cell's membranes. The subsequent acceleration of the rotor allows the controlled extraction of the cytoplasm from inside the cells; once enough cytoplasm is extracted, keeping the membrane hole open, the deceleration of the rotor, reducing the artificial gravity on the cells allows them to go back to their original shape. During this process the cells aspirate through the open membrane hole the surrounding liquid and the molecules in it to be injected into the cells. The apparatus comprises: a centrifuge and its spinning rotor, a cell chamber assembly (100) mounted on the rotor. The cell chamber assembly includes a cell chamber (140), outer and inner electrodes (104, 124) aperature (130) and passages connecting aperature (130) and cell chamber (140) and a brake mechanism for the centrifuge rotor.
