For adjustment of the suspension and damping of a motor vehicle to different load conditions, the articulated coupling of a spring/damper combination (spring strut) is adjusted by means of a pivotably mounted support lever or a support rail in such a way that the angle of the spring strut to the tangents to the curve, described by the (direct or indirect) articulated coupling of the spring strut to the wheel-carrying part, is adjusted.
