Insulating bord for building applications comprises a plate shaped core of closed-cell polyurethane foam encapsulated in an external cover layer which comprises (glass) fibre or fibre wet-reinforced polyester polymerised in situ (i.e. around the core). Battens e.g of wood, may be spaced on or in one or both sides of the core and contained within the outer layer. The battens may be parallel and equi-spaced on one side only.
