PURPOSE:To obviate softening of adhesives binding a stem and an inner tube, by securing a couple of inner tubes with a sealed electrode each, in an airtight state, to the inner tube insertion hole formed in a stem, after the stem has been sealed on the bottom of an outer tube. CONSTITUTION:After a stem 3 provided with a couple of inner tube insertion holes has been sealed on the bottom of a cylindrical glass-make outer tube 1 in which mercury and a noble gas are sealed up, an electrode 6 is air-tightly sealed to one end in the inner tube insertion holes, while phosphor layer clad somethings 8 are inserted through into the inside wall of the paired rectilinear glass inner tubes 5 having the other end opened and bonded to the stem 3 with glass frit 7 whereby a compacted discharge lamp is thus made up. Therefore, the glass frit 7 can securely hold the inner tubes 5 without causing any heat liable to possible softening after it has been set. Thus, any tilt of inner tubes 5 or generation of gap(s) may be prevented, duly enhancing the grade of product as merchandise. |
