<p>Methods using the active threo stereoisomer alone or as a mixture with the other threo enantioner and/or erythro stereoisomers of compounds of the general formula <CHEM> wherein R1 is OH, OR4 or OM; R2 and R3 independently are each phenyl, substituted phenyl, pyridyl and halogensubstituted pyridyl; R4 is C1-C8 alkyl, C1-C4 monohaloalkyl, C3-C4 monohaloalkenyl, C4-C6 monohaloalkynyl, C4-C6 hydroxyalkynyl, C1-C4 alkoxy, C1-C4 alkyl, C3-C4 alkynyl, benzyloxy C2-C3 alkyl, benzyl or furfuryl; M is an alkali metal, ammonium, C1-C8 mono- or dialkylammonium or hydroxyethylammonium; are described for retarding growth and suppressing seedheads in turfgrasses and regulating the growth of plants.</p> |
