PURPOSE:To logically control a storage area and an overflow area by logically forming and controlling the overflow area and the storing area and physically storing records without distinguishing the storing area from the overflow area. CONSTITUTION:When records can not be stored in a storage area by a storage area control means 4, a divided record forming means 6 converts a non-divided record into records to be stored in the storage area and records to be stored in the overflow area. An overflow area determining means 9 determines the storage area of the divided records, an overflow area inner position determining means 10 determines the storage area in the overflow area and a divided record storing means 11 stores the divided records in accordance with these determinations. An interrecord relating means 12 stores the addresses of the divided records stored in the means 11 in the divided records to relate the record with each other and an intra-storage area storing means 13 stores the addresses in its storage area.
