PURPOSE:To allow the viewer to watch the television receiver till the opposed party replies in making a call during television watching by detecting the operating state of the telephone set and displaying its operating state on a cathode ray tube. CONSTITUTION:In hooking off a handset (not shown) of a telephone set 6 to make a phone call, a dial tone detection circuit 7 detects a dial tone, an off- hook display circuit 12 is operated and a character display of 'OFF-HOOK' is applied to part of the cathode ray tube 5 through a TV/telephone set changeover circuit 4 in a form of a slave pattern. In making a dial, it is detected by a dial signal detection circuit 8, a dial display circuit 13 is operative and the character display of 'in dialing' is displayed similarly on the cathode ray tube 5. The character display of 'calling' in case of calling the opposite party, 'busy' in case of a busy state, and 'talking available' in case of the opposite party replies are displayed respectively on the cathode ray tube 5 similarly.
