PURPOSE:To expand and reduce a reading image with simple circuit constitution by making variable the number of times of scanning of an image sensor per for moving distance of a carriage. CONSTITUTION:The image information of an original 1 is formed through an image forming lens 5 onto the picture element of an image sensor 4. By changing the number of dots of a printing device corresponding to the number of picture elements of the image sensor 4 and changing the number of times of reading, namely, the reading density, per the unit moving distance of the lateral direction, namely, the moving direction of a carriage 3, the image is expanded and reduced. By corresponding to plural picture elements of the image sensor 4 to one dot of a printing device, the number of the picture elements of the image sensor 4 corresponding to it at the time of expanding an image and the reduction of the picture quality is prevented. |
